Project Description
Auckland Council is the largest council in Australasia, with a $3 billion annual budget and $29 billion of ratepayer equity.
It employs 10,000 people and operates or controls hundreds of buildings and vehicles.
The Council managed over 900 electricity, gas and fuel accounts within BraveGen with data coming in from 23 suppliers.
Challenge
Having made commitments to reduce its energy as well as other resources the Council needed a system that could give real-time business intelligence at facility and asset level for both current and historic data.
Solution
Auckland Council implemented BraveGen in September 2008, setting up facilities and energy accounts in the system and entering 5 years of historic data.
The Council saved $891,440 in the first nine months of using BraveGen. This was achieved through the system highlighting invoicing errors and corrections on previously unchallenged accounts and tariffs.
BraveGen automatically highlighted unusual usage levels and high intensity ratios based on varying metrics in both buildings and vehicles so that the council where able to concentrate on reducing resource usage beginning with the highest users first.
They were also able to significantly reduce their energy costs through improved and automated invoice analysis.
